Middletown South Lacrosse Goalie Natalie Pugliese Reaches 400 Save Mark

By Les Pierce

Middletown South lacrosse goal keeper Natalie Pugliese has reached the 400-save milestone, which came in a game versus Marlboro on May 6. The senior co-captain posted 85 saves in her sophomore year, when she shared the position as a starter. As a junior, she landed the starting role and added 164 to the ledger. In 2017, thus far, she has netted 201 through 18 games for a career total of 450. Pugliese recorded 15 saves or more in three games, netting 15 versus Red Bank on April 5, 18 versus Wall on April 13, and 15 in a rematch with the Scarlet Knights on May 2.

Head coach Greer Novak said of Pugliese, “Natalie was the anchor and the mainstay of our defense. She remained poised in difficult situations and consistently performed at her best.”
