The Middletown High School South girls’ soccer team has posted six shutouts in 12 games played this season. Goalie Allie Greco is largely responsible for the proliferation of those goose eggs.
The Eagle junior demonstrated she is one of the best in the Shore Conference at her craft when she recorded her 200th career save. The milestone goal came in a road game against Marlboro on Sept. 23.
She recorded 10 or more saves three times so far during the 2022 campaign. Her best outing came in a clash with Brick Memorial when she executed 13 stoppages.
Greco netted an impressive 147 saves in 2021. She was accordingly named to the Shore Coaches A North All Division squad and the Shore Coaches All Monmouth County Second Team last year.
“Allie is a goalie who impresses us daily, and our opponents are wowed by her abilities as well,” Middletown South Head Coach Megan Barry said. “She is focused, has unbelievable reflexes and is a leader. Her teammates and coaches appreciate her and trust her wholeheartedly, which is a great feeling when going into competitive games.”
