Middletown Public Schools to Resume Full-Time, In-Person Instruction

Middletown public schools are to set to resume full-time, in-person instruction for all students on Monday, May 10. Middle schools are to begin a bit earlier on Monday, April 19.

The Middletown school district announced the news at Wednesday’s Board of Education meeting.

Any students who wish to continue virtual learning have the option to do so. Superintendent Mary Ellen Walked stated in the letter to the school community, “Our principals and assistant principals have been working with their Pandemic Response Teams to create plans for lunch that include 6 feet social distancing between students.”

All students who attend school in-person will be required to remain on campus for the full day, including during the lunch period.

Walker wrote, “With proper planning, effective health and safety measures, and using the health data to determine the timing of our progress forward, we have been successful in reaching this final phase.”
