Middletown Police Stationed in Shadow Lake Development, Body Reportedly Found

breaking news

A body was found floating in a reservoir in Middletown Township on Thursday afternoon, Daily Voice first reported.

The body was found along Shadow Lake Drive, according to initial reports. No identification has been confirmed. A marine unit was called to the scene around 2 pm Thursday.

Middletown police are currently investigating matters in the Shadow Lake adult community, Lt. Paul Bailey confirmed.

Middletown and Red Bank police have been searching for a missing woman since Sept. 23. Police have not commented on the status of the search, calling it an “ongoing investigation,” nor have authorities said if the body found is that of the missing woman.

62-year-old Mary Silengo was reported missing last week after she did not return home, prompting a search by her family. She was last seen in Shadow Lake Village, where she lives, on Sept. 22 around 11 pm.

She is a white woman with blonde/gray hair who was last seen wearing a bright pink pajama shirt and gray sweat pants. She may have been wearing a denim jacket and dark colored shoes. She is 5’2″ and weighs 120 pounds. Family members said she is friendly, suffers from a mental illness and is in need of her medication.

Police have been dispatched over the past week by helicopter, boat and on foot to search for Silengo.

On Sept. 25, the Middletown Police Department asked locals to refrain from any activity in and around Shadow Lake as officers continued the search.

This is a developing story.
