Middletown Plans to Open Park and Parking Area Next to River Plaza Elementary School

Middletown Township is working on a plan to open a new park with a parking area. It will be located at the corner of Navesink River Road and Hubbard Avenue, right next to River Plaza Elementary School.

“The primary benefit of this park is to provide safe parking and better access for two of the township’s major water-based recreation areas, Shadow Lake and Poricy Pond,” Middletown Business Administrator Anthony Mercantante told The Patch on Monday.

The currently empty lot is slated to turn into a parking area, with the possibility of a playground area. The parking area will enable better traffic flow in and out of River Plaza Elementary, especially at busy drop-off and pick-up times.

Mercantante explained that the increased parking will also benefit fishermen who frequent the two bodies of water.
