This morning, at approximately 5:40, Middletown and Holmdel police engaged in a car chase, after a report of a stolen Range Rover came in, according to the Holmdel Township Police Department.

The vehicle was traveling on Route 520, heading toward the Holmdel border. Holmdel police stopped the Range Rover on Route 520 and Middletown Lincroft Road as well as a Lincoln that had also been reported stolen.

The Range Rover then collided with the Lincoln, and the driver continued driving at a high speed. Holmdel police continued the chase, but stopped the pursuit shortly after.

The man driving the Lincoln was a 20-year-old Irvington resident. He fled on foot but was apprehended shortly after.

Car thefts have been frequent in the Middletown and Holmdel area. Holmdel police advise residents to secure their vehicles and remain vigilant.

Earlier this month, two men were arrested for armed robbery and were linked to approximately 100 vehicle burglaries in Monmouth County between April and June, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office. They are being held at the Monmouth County Correctional Institute, pending a bail detention hearing.
