MHSN Receives Charter for Mathematics Honor Society

Middletown High School North NJ MHSN

Middletown High School North recently petitioned for – and was granted – a charter for the prestigious national Mu Alpha Theta National Honor Society. Over 50 students will be inducted into this prestigious organization on Tuesday, Oct. 23.

These students are afforded opportunities to compete in mathematics competitions at the national and international level, opportunities to apply for scholarships, and become part of a network of over 10,000 students who, like Mu Alpha Theta, are “dedicated to inspiring keen interest in mathematics, developing strong scholarship in the subject, and promoting the enjoyment of mathematics in high school and two-year college students.”

The founders of the school’s chapter and co-advisors are Kara Teehan and Stephanie Dibari, both math teachers at Middletown North. The creation of this chapter was greatly facilitated by Dr. John Kerrigan, Dr. Patricia Cartier, and senior Kelsey Cahalan. For more information, contact teehank@middletownk12.org.
