Man Arrested for Slashing Car Tires in Middle of Night

Long Branch Slashed Tires

On March 24 at around 3:30 am, Corporal Christopher Gant from the Long Branch Police Department observed a suspicious vehicle on a dead end residential street. Due to his strong working knowledge of all patrol zones, he immediately determined that the presence of this particular vehicle was something that was out of the ordinary.

He then encountered a man who was crouched by the parked vehicle, actively slashing its tires. The man was armed with a baseball bat in one hand and a knife in the other. Cpl. Gant communicated with his squad mates and headquarters and made sound tactical decisions while effecting the arrest of the subject.

Cpl. Gant displayed initiative in this incident while proactively patrolling the city during the early morning hours. He continues to lead by example as the senior officer in the platoon
