Man Arrested for Shoplifting in Brick Township Wawa

On Oct. 29 at 7:37 pm, patrol officers responded to the Wawa located on 116 Brick Blvd. for a report of shoplifting. Officers viewed surveillance footage of a male subject who leaned over the cashier counter, grabbed a large brown box and exited the store. The box contained a large amount of carton cigarettes with an estimated value of $3,500.

On Nov. 1 at 8 pm, the suspect returned to the Wawa. At this time, the Brick Township Street Crimes Unit (SCU) detectives were able to identify the suspect. The suspect was identified as Robert Rizzotti, a 62-year-old male from Toms River.

Rizzotti left the Wawa prior to officers responding. With the assistance of Toms River patrol units, the SCU located him at his residence in Toms River.

Further investigation led to the retrieval of the stolen items which led to Rizzotti’s arrest.

He was transported to Brick Township Police Headquarters and released on a summons for shoplifting.
