A man climbed up a ride on Casino Pier in Seaside Heights this morning to protest police charges against him that he feels are unjust. The man raised an American Flag, stating that he will not come down until he secures an attorney.

The person has since been identified as Chris Angulo.

According to New 12 New Jersey, Angulo “said he was upset with a number of issues and feels he’s being falsely accused of threatening Bay Head police.”

Angulo remained at the top of the Skyscraper ride for approximately four hours as a small crowd gathered below. He later descended and was taken into police custody.

According to ABC 7, Seaside Heights Borough Administrator Christopher Vaz said the man “has an issue with a police department somewhere on Barnegat Bay Peninsula. Not our PD.”

Seaside officials said he will be held responsible for the financial repercussions of his actions in addition to the criminal charges he now faces.

This is not Angulo’s first time expressing his patriotism or defiance of the law. It was reported in 2013, just after Superstorm Sandy swept through the area, that Angulo had swam out  to the partially submerged roller coaster off the New Jersey coast and secured an American flag to its structure. He had been admitted to a psychiatric ward after this incident.
