On Saturday evening, four were arrested for “unruly behavior” after a beach party attracted thousands of people from across the state. The group gathered along the beachfront around Pier Village, according to the Long Branch Office of the Mayor.
The gathering started after a social media post enticed young people to come to Pier Village. The post got the attention of visitors who traveled by train and car to Long Branch. Many brought alcohol and marijuana to the beach party.
Visitors were asked to leave the beach as the commotion began to grow, resulting in “unruly behavior,” police said.
The City of Long Branch Police Department had officers dress in riot gear to respond to the scene. Authorities arrested four individuals for disorderly persons offenses.
