During this season of giving, we asked members of the Berkshire Hathaway office in Rumson to share stories about holiday traditions, treasured recipes and different ways of giving back.

“Thanksgiving begins with a spin-a-thon or mountain bike ride with friends. My husband and I then host for his parents, siblings, and their kids. Thanksgiving is a day where we celebrate with friends and family, are grateful for all we have, and gorge ourselves on decadent treats.” – Suzie Mandell, Realtor Associate and Monmouth Beach resident

“Every Thanksgiving, we discuss what food theme our Christmas dinner will be (we have done a French Christmas, a German Christmas, a Retro Christmas …) and take a final vote. Thanksgiving in the Gillespie family is always fun!” – Linda Gillespie, Broker Associate/Manager and Fair Haven resident

“Every Thanksgiving we go through family photos from the present year and create the following year’s family calendar on Shutterfly.” – Tricia Lamendola, Sales Associate and Monmouth Beach resident

“My favorite Thanksgiving tradition was volunteering with my children at The FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties. We would assist those who were dropping off donations and the families coming to the foodbank for a healthy Thanksgiving meal. It was a great life lesson for my children. It taught them to be thankful for all that they had and the joy of helping others that are less fortunate.” – Elle Gazzola, Realtor Associate and Red Bank resident

“Every thanksgiving, my daughter and I pick up a fresh organic turkey on Tuesday. I prep the turkey by putting it in a brine for 24 hours. On Wednesday, I wash the turkey and season it. I prepare fresh stuffing with homemade chicken broth, veggies and baguette on Wednesday, along with vegetables, yams and mashed potatoes. I never use paper plates or cups. A lot of work, but it’s all worth it. Sharing good food enjoying time with loved ones.” – Sibel Al-Chalabi,Realtor Associate and Freehold resident.
