Locals Donate to Needy Animals throughout Monmouth County this Winter

By Shanna O'Mara

Rose Lyn Petruzzi and Susan Marjamaa, of the Holmdel-based dog walking and pet sitting business Let’s Play Ruff, organized a donation drive this winter to collect food and supplies for rescue animals in the area.

As part of an international effort spearheaded by Pet Sitters International (PSI), the largest educational association for professional pet sitters, the Hungry Bowl™ Pet Food Drive was created to collect pet food for local shelters and pet-rescue groups across the globe. Proceeds from Let’s Play Ruff’s drive were donated to Husky House, Castle of Dreams, the Monmouth County SPCA and 3 Hearts 4 Paws.

Locals donated food, toys, blankets and bandanas. Donations were accepted throughout December at Holmdel Town Hall, Village Pet Spa in Middletown and Planet Poodle in Red Bank. The response at the Holmdel Veterinary Clinic was so heartwarming that the donation box was even left out through January.

Petruzzi and Marjamaa thank all those who donated and who care for animals in our area every day!
