Lincroft’s Kenan Hot Gains Tryout with London’s Arsenal Club

By Les Pierce

The Arsenal Football (soccer) Club is a professional football club based in London that competes in the Premier League, the top flight of English football. Arsenal staffs their squad by identifying talented young players worldwide to bring into their youth academy program, which serves as a feeder program to the professional team.

Kenan Hot, a Lincroft resident and eighth grade student at Thompson Middle School, was scouted this year by Arsenal while competing for Players Development Academy of Somerset, a top 10, nationally ranked team. Hot was included in a group of 20 birth year 2004 players selected nationwide to participate in a week-long tryout in Maryland in July. At the conclusion, he was among the 14 named to continue on to London for further tryouts and assessment. There, he engaged in a week of arduous training and competition in the shadow of the famed Emirates stadium at the end of September. Arsenal scouts continued to monitor his play upon his return to the United States, an indication that he is a potential candidate for their program.

Although not yet in high school, Kenan Hot has expressed a goal to carry on his athletic endeavors at Princeton University.  When asked if his aspirations were changed by the experience, he stated, “My aspirations for the game of soccer now include playing professionally one day, whether it be here or somewhere overseas.”
