The Lincroft 10-Year-Old Boys All-Star baseball squad captured both District 19 and Section 3 championships.

Lincroft defeated Middletown by a 6-5 score in the championship final of the District 19 tournament. Pitcher Jayden Matejicka got the win in the championship final. He allowed six hits and three runs over four innings of work, while striking out seven.

Southpaw hurler Dylan Blackman took the mound in relief and earned the save. He surrendered five hits and two runs over two innings, striking out two. Joey Massagli completed the battery behind the dish. Jared Matejicka paced the club at the plate, going two for three with two runs scored and a RBI to his credit. Driving in key runs were Mike Mullane and Joey Massagli.

Lincroft had outscored opponents 48 – 20 over the course of the tournament.

The District 19 championship earned the team a berth in the Section 3 tournament where they would face other District champions. Lincroft navigated through the brackets to ultimately face District 12 champion Sunnybrae Little League in the final. The outcome was never in doubt as Lincroft prevailed by an overwhelming 9-1 tally to clinch the Section 3 crown.

Right-hander Jayden Matejicka started on the hill in the tourney final and claimed the win, giving up one run as he scattered five hits over four and one-third innings. He struck out five and issued one pass.

The Sunnybrae batters may have thought they were seeing double when twin brother Jared Matejicka got the call in relief and closed out the contest, hurling a shutout over the final one and two-thirds innings while striking out two batters.

Lincroft was led offensively by Matt Trimble who went two for two with a walk, one RBI and one run scored. Ryan Kapler reached the base paths in all three of his plate appearances and notched one RBI. Mike Mullane and Jared Matejicka both contributed multiple hits in the final.

Winning the Sectional championship launched Lincroft into the overall state championship competition. The team reached the final with victories over Millville and Englewood Cliffs. However, the quest for best in the state status ended with a heart-breaking 5-4 loss to Pompton Lakes/Riverdale in the championship final, on a walk-off single in the bottom of the 6th inning.

The team was guided to the titles by Manager Eric Blackman and Coaches Kevin McCarthy and Mike Mullane.
