Katarina Villa Breaks Saint John Vianney Field Hockey School Records

Katarina Villa

Katarina Villa has broken the Saint John Vianney field hockey scoring records for both goals scored (61) and points (145).

The Tufts University-bound senior midfielder/forward set the new marks during a home game against Freehold Borough on Oct. 15. She scored five goals, a single game career high, and added an assist to lead the Lancers to a 9-0 victory.

The school records were previously held by Lauren Tuschmann, at 57 goals and 14 points, set in 2019.

Villa is a four-year veteran. She netted three goals as a freshman and 14 in her sophomore year. In 2021, she put up amazing numbers, 32 goals and 10 assists. Accordingly, she was named to the All Shore Conference Second Team and the Shore Conference Coaches B-North All Division Team last year.

“I am so thrilled for Katarina,” third-year SJV Head Coach Amanda Westerweller said. “She is one of the hardest working athletes I have ever coached and is just so passionate about field hockey. To be able to hold both of these records for Saint John Vianney is truly a testament to her dedication and commitment to the sport. I am so proud of her and can’t wait to see what comes for her in the future as she continues to play at Tufts. Her speed and vision with the ball is unmatched. She makes every player around her better.”
