Holmdel Police Report Attempted Car Theft on Saturday
On Saturday, Aug. 7, a white sedan stopped in front of a home on Palmetto Court in Holmdel, authorities said. An individual exited the back seat of the vehicle and walked up the homeowner’s driveway toward several vehicles parked near the home, according to Holmdel police.
The vehicles were locked. The homeowner turned on a light, which startled the suspect, causing him to return to the sedan, which was waiting in the street, and flee the area.
Officers spotted the vehicle on Middletown Road, which was stolen earlier out of Verona. Officers were unable to get the driver to stop.
Holmdel police said, “[This is] another reminder to our residents that locking your cars, taking your keys, and keeping your home secure will deter these criminals from coming to our area. We thank you for continuing to work together.”
