Holmdel Police Looking to Identify Man Who Approached Children

Google Maps

The Holmdel Police Department is looking for the public’s help in finding a man who approached two children on Monday.
At approximately 3:30 pm on Monday, Nov. 16, Holmdel police received a call for suspicious activity on Spring Valley Road near the intersection of Ely Road. The call was in reference to an older male subject who began to engage with two children who were playing outside their home.
The siblings, 7 and 10 years old, reported to their family that an older male began to talk to them while they were in their driveway. Although the man remained on the street, he did ask the children if they wanted to see a video he had on his cell phone. The children subsequently ran inside their house and alerted an older sibling to the incident. At that point, the older sibling called their mom who then reported it to the police.
The subject was described as a white male, approximately 70 years old, between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-10, wearing a knit cap, jeans and either a black or white sweatshirt. The subject was reported to have been walking on Spring Valley Road from Holmdel Road.
Residents in the area are asked to check their camera systems for any footage that can assist in identifying the male.
Footage can be emailed to the investigating officer, Ptl. Ian Wladika, at 0101@holmdelpolice.org.
