Holmdel Police Arrest Second Suspect Involved in Attempted Vehicle Thefts

On Thursday, Jan. 27 at 7:47 pm, Holmdel police officers responded to the area of Freemont Lane for a report of an attempted motor vehicle theft. The subject, subsequently identified as 18-year-old Jyshaun Hodges, of Belleville, was arrested and charged with Attempted Burglary along with several other charges issued by Middletown Township Police Department.

Police said Hodges is being held in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending a court appearance.

After further investigation by Detective James Corrigan, Holmdel police were able to identify and arrest 19-year-old Jyshir Q. Conover, of Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania, who was the other occupant of the vehicle driving in town during the incident on Jan. 27. Conover was already lodged in the Monmouth County Jail, and he was served with a summons for Criminal Attempt Burglary on Feb. 2.

Authorities said the arrests were made possible in part by the fact that the owners of the vehicles had locked their doors and called the police immediately after seeing the suspicious vehicle and person in their driveway.

Police continue to urge all residents to lock car doors, take the keys and call the department if anything suspicious is witnessed.
