Holmdel High School Musicians Inducted into National Honor Society

More than 20 Holmdel High School students were inducted into the school’s chapter of the Tri-M Music Honor Society during a ceremony held at the high school on Oct. 15. Tri-M is a program of the National Association for Music Education. Its focus is on creating future leaders and advocates for music education.

The goal of the Tri-M Music Honor Society is to foster greater interest in band, orchestra and choral performance and to provide more opportunities for personal musical expression. Students are selected for membership in the honor society on the basis of musicianship, scholarship, character, leadership and service to their school and community. The organization’s high standards serve to challenge students to greater effort and achievement and to encourage them in the pursuit of excellence.

Tri-M is the only national honor society for student musicians in sixth through 12th grade. There are more than 1,800 chapters across all 50 states, involving more than 75,000 students. Each year, Tri-M students contribute more than 750,000 service hours to their schools and local communities nationally, and raise nearly $1 million for causes they care about.

This year’s inductees include: Nicholas Bauman, Keira Behal, Sophie Birk, Phyllis Cheng, Malak Dogheim, Madeline Fields, Lane Fontana, Rina Gallo, Mia Goins, Mikayla Houston, Andrew Kim, Trevor Kiss, Zachary Kosakowski, Benjamin Lin, David Menna, Leila Merhi, Camille Moutier, Noa Park, Seehanah Tang, Alex Tian and Skylar Yannello

Holmdel High School boasts an extensive music program with opportunities for students to perform in several choral and instrumental ensembles (including jazz and handbell ensembles) as well as opportunities for students to pursue studies in contemporary music, music theory and music technology. The school holds a variety of musical performance throughout the school year to which the public is invited. For details, see the district calendar online at
