Holmdel Girls Claim She Got Game Tournament Title

The Holmdel girls’ basketball team entered the Shore Games She Got Game Classic tournament looking to test their abilities against a highly successful program. They drew as an opponent Newark Central, the reigning Super Essex Conference Colonial Division (9-0) champions. The Hornets received favorable feedback from the venture as they defeated the Blue Devils by a 60-46 tally.

The score was deadlocked at 20 points each at the halftime break. However, Holmdel outscored their quarry 19-13 and 21-13 in the final two quarters.  

Three Hornets scored in double digits. Junior guard Allison Cannon led the squad with 20 points. She also powered the defense with seven steals to reach 92 career takeaways.  

Senior guard/forward Alexandra Loucopoulos netted 16 points with four coming at the free throw line. Sophomore center Mackenzie Teevan put up 13 points and swiped 10 rebounds.

Also scoring for Holmdel were Erica Stolker, Jamie DeCicco and Michelle Steele.
