Heavy Traffic Backs Up on Route 35 as Firetrucks, Power Crews and Police Respond to Scene

A downed power line and multi-car accident is causing traffic to build up along Route 35 in Middletown as lanes are closed and merging vehicles are causing further delays in the area.

Witnesses have reported a downed power line over the southbound lane near Laurel Avenue, which has caused a partial closure of Route 35. All lanes are closed between Palmer Avenue and Cherry Tree Farm Road. Drivers had to merge, which resulted in delays in the area.

A four-car accident was reported near Cherry Tree Farm Road, which may have caused the downed power line.

Locals in the surrounding area are experiencing power outages as service trucks are making their way to the scene.

According to an alert Middletown residents received this afternoon, a fire reportedly broke out near the intersection of Route 35 and Cherry Tree Farm Road. First responders are on the scene, including Middletown police.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area as crews restore power and safely open the roadway. Expect delays if you are traveling on nearby streets.
