On Thursday, June 14 at 10:30 am, Govenor Phil Murphy placed the first sports bet in New Jersey at Monmouth Park Racetrack in Oceanport.
Following years of legal battles, New Jersey is excited to let the games begin.
Murphy bet $20 on the New Jersey Devils to win the Stanley’s cup and $20 on Germany to win the World Cup.
Monmouth Park Racetrack is the first location in New Jersey to allow betting on sports games.
Following in Monmouth Park Racetrack’s footsteps, the Borgata in Atlantic City is set to open the casino for sports betting at 11 am.
Delaware also legalized sports betting on June 5, 2018.
