The Marlboro Police Department reported a house fire in the Morganville section of Marlboro on Monday morning. At approximately 9:30 am, a 911 call was placed to the Marlboro police by the homeowner regarding a fire that had appeared to have begun on the lowest level of the home. The homeowner reported smoke and flames to be rising from the Morris Court home’s basement.

The fire rose to second-alarm status, prompting fire crews from multiple departments to respond. The homeowner was reported to have already exited the home safely prior to police and crews arriving. The fire was brought under control by 11:15 this morning, thanks to the efforts of the responding crews.

The cause remains under investigation, however, is not considered suspicious at this time.

Responding fire departments that contributed to putting out the blaze were The Robertsville Fire Department, Morganville Volunteer Fire Department, Marlboro Fire Department, South Old Bridge Fire Department, Gordons Corner Road Fire Department and Monroe Fire Department.
