Fair Haven Main Water Line Construction to Begin Next Week

New Jersey American Water will be replacing all of Fair Haven’s aging main water lines, which were installed in the 1920s.

The 2,780 feet of present lines will be replaced by larger ductile iron along Fair Haven Road from Third Street and Laurel Avenue to the dead end.  Along with the water lines, four fire hydrants and 48 utility-owned service lines will be installed.

The $765,000 project will begin on Monday, Sept. 28 and is expected to be completed by the end of November. The replacement of the antiquated system will increase household water flow, as well as provide greater fire protection within Fair Haven.

The projected work hours for the construction are 7 am to 5 pm during the work week. Alternating traffic patterns are likely to occur during these hours. All emergency vehicles are allowed access while construction is active.

Final street restorations for the project are said to be complete by the spring.
