Where there was once books, now is a space to house free food and staples that some may need during our current new way of life. With shelves emptying at the local grocery stores as some prepare to self-quarantine at home, a member of the Port Monmouth community has turned a library into a pantry.

According to a Facebook post, the Little Free Library that stands outside Port Monmouth Elementary school has been transformed into the Little Free Pantry, housing foods from apple sauces to cookie mix, in order to help those who may be in need. Residents are welcome to drop off shelf-stable foods that they may have excess of, while others can stop by and grab what they need.

Port Monmouth Elementary School is located at 202 Main St. in Port Monmouth.
