Dead Dolphin Washes Ashore in Middletown

Middletown Mayor Tony Perry reported via Facebook and Twitter that a dolphin washed ashore at the Leonardo State Marina on the evening of March 15.

“Middletown has alerted the state, and we ask that you avoid the area while professionals clear the beach,” he wrote.

It is not clear at this time what caused the dolphin’s death.

The Township Committee has recently placed a halt on wind turbine projects in the area until more is known about what is causing so many dead mammals to wash up on local beaches. There are currently numerous necropsy investigations being performed to determine the cause of death in these matters.
