Nut Swamp School Support Staff Employee of the Year Dana Brach

Dana Brach has been named Nut Swamp Elementary School’s Support Staff Employee of the Year. She worked at Lincroft Elementary for 21 years before transferring to Nut Swamp three years ago.

She currently is a paraprofessional in Michelle Miles’ kindergarten class. Her primary activities are helping the students with class work and redirecting them to stay focused on tasks and lessons.

Supervising the lunch period is another component of her daily routine. “I open lots of milk cartons and ketchup packets every day,” Brach said.

She was born in Michigan and moved to Middletown while in the seventh grade and attended Thompson Middle School and Middletown High School. Brach attended Fairleigh Dickinson University where she earned a bachelor’s in marketing.

She and husband Lee recently celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary. They have two daughters, Courtney (age 32) and Carly (age 30). Both attended Lincroft School, Thompson and Middletown High School South. They resided in Lincroft for 28 years before moving to Eatontown two years ago.

In her leisure time, she enjoys time with family, watching football and baseball and days at the beach. An avid reader, she readily admits, “I am always working on a book.” Brach is known to be a huge Bruce Springsteen fan.

“I love working at Nut Swamp School because I have 21 of the most amazing, curious and funny kindergartners,” Brach said. “It has been wonderful to watch them become independent ‘almost’ first graders. I work with an awesome group of people at Nut Swamp, and I am very lucky that I get to come to work here every day!”

Nut Swamp Principal Neil Leone said, “Mrs. Brach is a loved and respected staff member who goes out of her way to create the best learning environment for her students. Mrs. Brach is a team player who can be counted on to always pitch in wherever the building needs her.”
