On Friday, May 26 at approximately 6:30 pm, two individuals abandoned a young, female Labrador Retriever in the parking lot of the Home Depot on Route 9 in Old Bridge.
The couple then proceeded to enter the Home Depot, and the dog followed them in. Security photos from inside the store show them seemingly running away from the dog. The dog was wearing a red harness and covered in dry feces. They were driving a black Ford truck, which was pulling a black Griffin trailer.
The dog’s empty crate was found in the parking lot – also covered in dry feces. At present, the dog is not available for adoption.
The Old Bridge Police Department posted these photos on social media, which led to the couple being identified. Their names have not yet been released, though police said the two are being charged accordingly. Authorities say the dog is doing well and is being cared for.
