By Les Pierce

Senior forward Sofia DeThomasis (#10)
The Colts Neck High School field hockey team should be heading into the postseason with high expectations. The squad has posted a 10-2-1 record over the 13 games played this season.
The Cougars have been overpowering, outscoring opponents by a 53-10 margin thus far.
Leading the team in scoring with 15 goals and five assists is sophomore phenom Faith Hannwacker. Others pacing the offense are senior forward Kylie Dawson (eight goals, 11 assists), junior forward/midfielder Jessica Schlindra (eight goals, four assists), junior forward/midfielder Nora Ismail (six goals, four assists), junior defender Tori Henderson (six goals, one assist) senior forward Sofia DeThomasis (five goals, five assists) and senior defender Jessica Serluco (three goals, three assists).
A staunch defense has produced seven shutouts. Patrolling the backfield are left fullback Jessie Serluco, center Abby Bellows, right fullback Abby Polyanskiy, sweeper Tori Henderson and goalie Alex Blaszczyk.
“Playing really good hockey and battling with some really good teams we are looking to get deep in the shore conference tournament and state tournament,” Head Coach Maria Merlucci said.
