After a rain-soaked start to the weekend, it was pure sunshine the morning of Oct. 1 as a crowd of more than 700 came together to celebrate Fall Fest at Colts Neck Community Church. This free family event was a joyful experience from beginning to end.
The day started with an outdoor worship service lead by Pastor Chris Durkin. After his inspiring words, Ron Brooks performed a commanding rendition of The Star-Spangled Banner. The events began, and there was something for everyone, including an inflatable tiger slide, carnival games, and face and pumpkin painting. There was also a black llama and his friends in the petting zoo and pony rides, and the serious riders tried their skills on the mechanical bull. The stars of the show were the two roasted pigs at the end of a long line of delicious foods, salads and desserts. When lunch was done, it was time for toe-tapping tunes from the bluegrass band Old Faithful and several guest speakers.
Pastor Durkin thanked the entire church community for helping make the day possible and sent special thanks to Brian Conerty for his hard work in organizing this annual fest.
“We have been truly blessed today with perfect weather and a very large crowd of guests who have come to enjoy a day of fun, fellowship and worship for our Savior,” Durkin said. “We welcome all our new guests and remind everyone that Colts Neck Community Church welcomes you all year long.”
