Charming Neighborhood Bakery in Atlantic Highlands Has Closed Its Doors

The Flakey Tart Bakery

The charming neighborhood bakery on First Avenue in Atlantic Highlands, The Flaky Tart, has suddenly closed. The Flaky Tart’s website and social media states that the shop is now permanently closed, after the staff took a week-long summer break in early September.

For months during to the pandemic, the bakery was offering curbside pickup for pastries and other goodies.

While loyal customers reported long lines and a busy storefront during the pandemic, partial owner of the bakery Matthew Rozenweig confirmed to the Asbury Park Press that the closure is due in part to the decrease in business during the pandemic.

The bakery has been serving delicious and beautiful pastries since 2007. Rosenzweig and Laura Martelli, owners of Flaky Tart, won the National Award for Pastry Chef in 2018.
