The Cat in the Hat Visits Shrewsbury

When Samantha Bremekamp heard that the Cat in the Hat was coming to Shrewsbury Borough School it was enough to turn her hair blue! She applied to the NJEA to win a visit from the Cat in the Hat and won! His visit was the day two event of their Read Across America Week. Mayor Don Burden delighted the group of Pre-K through third graders by reading “The Cat in the Hat” while the actual Cat in the Hat reenacted the scenes, ably assisted by Ms. Bremekamp and last year’s Teacher of the Year, second grade teacher Jillian Gindi who were dressed as Thing 2 and Thing 1. The two day Read Across America Week events included students dressed as their favorite book characters.

“What a fun-filled week we had, enjoying days of activities promoting a love of reading,” said Bremekamp. And it looked like the Cat in the Hat had a pretty good time too!
