Cassie Murphy – Red Bank’s Rising Star
By Lori Draz

Cassie Murphy practices family law, including child custody and divorce law, at the prestigious Paone, Zaleski & Murray. Since beginning her career, she has been a standout, and soon she will add another honor to her long list of accomplishments. In addition to recently being elected a trustee of the Monmouth County Legal Aid Society, this month, Ms. Murphy will receive the Martin Goldin Award, recognizing her as a young attorney who has distinguished herself in the practice of family law.
The Martin S. Goldin Family Law Award is presented each year to a family law practitioner who has been engaged in the practice for 15 years or less and exemplifies those principles by which Mr. Goldin practiced family law, including maintaining a continuous study of past and present case law, making a careful and detailed analysis of each case, presenting the issues and applicable law to clients in a readily understandable manner, attempting to settle issues on a fair and reasonable basis before resorting to litigation, fostering respect and courtesy for the bench and bar, maintaining high standards of integrity and professionalism, and exhibiting leadership in the county or state Bar Association. The award typifies the way Ms. Murphy approaches her practice every day.
She is a voting member of the Family Law Executive Committee of the New Jersey State Bar Association and was chosen as a New Jersey Super Lawyers Rising Star for 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017. She has had several articles published in the New Jersey Family Lawyer, New Jersey’s seminal family law journal. Additionally, she has spoken about family law at several seminars. Ms. Murphy is an active member of the Middlesex County, Monmouth County, and New Jersey State (Family Law Section) Bar Associations. She presently serves on the Monmouth Bar Association Family Law Committee and Monmouth Bar Association Young Lawyers Committee, and as a panelist for the Middlesex County Early Settlement Panel program. She began her career as a law clerk to the Hon. Lisa Perez-Friscia, J.S.C., Family Part, Bergen County, and is admitted to the bar in New Jersey, New York, and the District of Columbia.
Ms. Murphy believes that the practice of law is a service to others navigating through difficult times. The issues can change daily, since no two cases are the same. As a result, she believes a good family law practitioner should be flexible, creative, and well-versed in multiple different topic areas, including real estate and business valuations. She clearly loves the work she does, but she does have another passion, that being Red Bank. She and her husband Kellen moved to Monmouth County from Hoboken in 2015. They fell in love with the restaurants, recreation, and diversity of Red Bank. They bought a 1904 colonial home, minutes from Red Bank’s downtown and had their daughter Madeline a year ago. Ms. Murphy serves as a trustee for Red Bank’s RiverCenter and Mr. Murphy sits on the Red Bank Zoning Board.
Ms. Murphy says, “We absolutely love this town and Monmouth County, including the restaurants, shops, the farmlands, and orchards. I am an avid beach lover, and spend a lot of time at the beach in the summers. We love taking Madeline around the town to enjoy the many family-friendly events that Red Bank offers, like visiting Santa and bringing her to the symphony event in Marine Park this past July 2. We love walking around with her at the various street festivals and the farmer’s market over the summer.”
Cassie Murphy’s commitment to law and community continue to make her a real source of pride for the area. The Law Offices of Paone, Zaleski & Murray are located at 120 Maple Avenue in Red Bank. Call (732) 750-9797. They also have an office at 146 Green Street, Woodbridge. Call (732) 750-9797.
