Candid Conversation about Grief at River Road Books event

River Road Books

Rebecca Soffer, author of the book “Modern Loss,” offered a candid – and at times, humorous – conversation about grief during a May 9 visit sponsored by River Road Books. The event, held at Nauvou Grill in Fair Haven, benefited Stephy’s Place, a Support Center for Grief and Loss in Red Bank.

Soffer is a former producer for “The Colbert Report” and an alumna of Columbia University’s Graduate school of Journalism. She speaks nationally on loss and resilience, and contributes regularly to books, magazines and other media. Her website, modernloss.com, is a rich resource for people who are grieving, or people who want to help someone who is grieving.

Stephy’s Place benefited from the proceeds of the 70 people who attended. Stephy’s Place, a nonprofit 501(c)3, is located at 210 W. Front St., Red Bank. The organization offers free-of-charge support groups, meditation, and a place of comfort to anyone who has suffered loss. For details, call 732- 614-1142 or visit stephysplace.org.
