Brick Township Police Make Multiple Arrests, Including on Drug Charges

On Aug. 16 around 3 pm, the Brick Police Department Street Crimes Unit’s investigation into a residence on Cottonwood Drive resulted in the arrest of Joseph Reavis, 26, of Manchester.

With assistance from K9 Officer Scott Smith and his partner K9 Echo, Reavis was found to possess approximately 170 wax folds of heroin packaged for resale and an undisclosed amount of currency in his vehicle.

The vehicle was seized, and forfeiture proceedings are pending. Reavis was charged with two counts of Distribution of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS), three counts of Possession of a CDS, Possession of a CDS with the Intent to Distribute, and Possession of Paraphernalia. He was lodged in Ocean County Jail.

On Aug. 19, the SCU, continuing in its investigation regarding the Cottonwood Drive residence, arrested Ryan Bannon, 39, and Katherine Smith, 33, both of Brick.

Bannon was charged with two counts of Distribution of a CDS, four counts of Possession of a CDS, Possession of a CDS and Possession of Paraphernalia. Smith was charged with two counts of Distribution of a CDS, two counts of Conspiracy to Commit Possession of a CDS, two counts of Possession of a CDS, two counts of Possession of Prescription Legend Drugs, Possession of Paraphernalia and Possession of Hypodermic Syringes.

Both Bannon and Smith were lodged in Ocean County Jail.

The following day at 10:18 pm, SCU detectives gained information that a wanted person, 22-year-old Kevin Kries was at his mother’s, Christina Torres’s, 49, residence on Silverton Road. With the assistance of Ocean County Sheriff’s Officers, SCU detectives attempted to serve the arrest warrant, but Kries fled out the back door. Kries was quickly apprehended and placed under arrest.

In addition to the outstanding warrant, Kries was charged with Hindering Apprehension, Obstruction, and Resisting Arrest. He was lodged in Ocean County Jail.

Torres was also placed under arrest at the scene for Hindering Apprehension and Obstruction. Torres was released on a Summons.

On Aug. 25 at 3:15 pm, an SCU detective observed a subject identified as James Belcher, 74, of Neptune, masturbating in his vehicle in the parking lot of the Pleasure Zone on Chambers Bridge Road.

Belcher was issued a summons for charging him with Lewdness and released on scene.
