Belmar Police Bust Man on 40 Drug-Related Offenses

On Feb. 17, the Belmar Police Department concluded a month-long narcotic distribution investigation of 37-year-old Robert Clayton. The bust occurred at River Ridge Apartment complex at the intersection of 1st and Ocean Avenue in Belmar, where police executed a search warrant.

Clayton was arrested and charged with a total of 40 counts of narcotic related offenses, 36 of them being indictable crimes. He was charged with 11 counts of intent to distribute narcotics, specifically heroin, crystal methamphetamine, Lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD), Methylenedioxy-methamphetamine (MDMA) over 1 ounce, Ketamine, Xanax, Tramadol, Adderall, Carisoprodol, Alprazolam, and Methadone. 

These specific narcotic offenses occurred within a recreation zone. Clayton was charged with 11 counts of narcotic distribution within a recreation zone as well.

There were a total of 15 counts for possession of a controlled dangerous substance, 11 of the same narcotic offenses as mentioned above, with the addition of possession of oxycodone, amphetamine dextroamphetamine, buprenorphine hydrochloride, marijuana under 50 grams including THC wax, cannabis oil, and THC edibles. 

Included in the 40 counts of narcotic-related offenses were possession of drug paraphernalia including scales, packaging materials, possession of hypodermic needles, and being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, specifically heroin.

Clayton’s complaint was placed on a criminal warrant with no bail, and he was taken to Monmouth County Correctional Institution in accordance with bail reform.
