“Bella Italia” Flower Show a Huge Success

The Navesink Garden Club’s Small Standard Flower Show, titled “Bella Italia,” was a huge success and visited by many garden enthusiasts in The Atrium at 40 Riverside Avenue in Red Bank. Out of the hundreds of entries, 95 ribbons were awarded.  Yoko Ikura won the Arboreal Award and two Horticultural Awards of Merit, along with nine more horticultural ribbons and one design ribbon. Bernice Maguire won a Horticultural Award of Merit, with 12 additional horticultural awards and one design award. Pam Marhan won the first place blue ribbon for her design in “Carnevale a Venezia,” (Carnival in Venice) as well as 11 horticultural ribbons. Pam Sutton won the Growers Choice Award, eight additional horticulture awards, and the third place yellow ribbon in  “Sotto il Sole della Toscana” (Under the Tuscan Sun).  Astrid Dixon won the Top Designers Choice Award in “Ricordi Mediterranei” (Mediterranean Memories). Joan Mallon won a “Mediterranean Memories” Design Award, as well as five Horticultural Awards, including a Horticultural Award for Merit.  Gotti Kelley won two Horticultural Awards of Merit with 11 winners among her entries. Pam Sutton won the First Place Blue Ribbon and “Growers Choice Award” for her potted plant.   Marina Kerber won the First Place Blue Ribbon in “Sotto il Sole della Toscana” (Under the Tuscan Sun). Ms. Kerber is chairperson of this flower show, a Master Gardener, NGC Accredited Judge, GCNJ District VIII Director, and prior president of the Navesink Garden Club.

The Navesink Garden Club invites people interested in horticulture and design to join the club to meet everyone and learn what other interesting projects the club will be doing. Come to one or more of the monthly meetings, held the second Tuesday of the month at The Atrium, located at 40 Riverside Avenue in Red Bank, in September, October, November, December, January, February, March, April,  May, and June from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The Navesink Garden Club is a member of The Garden Club of New Jersey, Inc. and the Central Atlantic Region of National Garden Clubs, Inc.
