The Beauty Foundation for Cancer Care hosted its 12th annual Beauty Ball on Saturday, March 17 at the Asbury Hotel in Asbury Park. Sal Martelli of Martelli Signature Homes was one of the honorees being recognized for his support and dedication to the foundation. Martelli received the Diamond Award of Philanthropy sponsored by and named after fellow Board member, Warren Diamond.

The Beauty Foundation holds a personal meaning for Martelli who lost his mother to cancer and whose brother is a cancer survivor. He recalls the difficult time the family went through during his brother’s treatment. “If it were not for the support of family and friends, I’m not sure what we would have done. That is why the work the Beauty Foundation does is so important.” Martelli has attended the Beauty Ball for many years and plans to continue attending mainly because he knows first-hand what the beneficiaries are experiencing.

Additionally, the 2018 Unsung Hero Award was presented to Melissa Clifton-Bahrs and Danny Murphy received the 2018 Peter Criss Man of Courage Award.

Created in 2008, the Beauty Foundation for Cancer Care’s mission is to alleviate the overwhelming financial and emotional strains that cancer treatments place on families. Additionally, they support the development of educational materials and provide support to local cancer centers.
