All Are Invited to Build a Canoe This Weekend in Red Bank

The Navesink Maritime Heritage Association is pleased to invite families and youth age 12 and over to build wooden canoes in the open air at its Grover House headquarters, 930 West Front St., Red Bank. The event will take place on Saturday, Sept. 26 and Sunday, Sept. 27 from 8 am to 5 pm each day.

Each canoe is built by a team of four to five people, comprised of adults and youth age 12 and over, plus one experienced instructor. Teams are created on the day depending upon the number and ages of the attendees.

All materials, tools and skilled help are provided. Teams are asked to stay for both days so that they can finish what they start.

Breakfast and a BBQ lunch are provided each day for $20 per person for the weekend. Face coverings and social distancing are required.

Pre-registration is required at NavesinkMaritime.Org/Events before Friday, Sept. 25. Walk-ups are not allowed.
