Ah-Choo! Staying Well With IMA

By Lori Draz

IMA Nurse Practitioner AnnMarie Gray and Dr. Brendan J. Mulholland.

The woes of winter are here. It’s cold and flu season, but you can prevent the nasty fever, sore throat, body aches, stuffy or runny nose, and fatigue of the flu with a simple flu shot. IMA (Integrated Medicine Alliance) is a medical “group-without-walls” made up of nearly 40 dedicated healthcare providers, working together to offer quality immediate care to patients at six primary care practices, a diagnostic center, and three urgent care centers located in Middletown, Shrewsbury, and Hazlet.

They have plenty of flu shots available, including a high dose flu shot for senior citizens. And if you’re one of the unlucky flu victims, they offer Tamiflu, which eases symptoms and shortens the duration of the illness. It doesn’t cure the flu, but Tamiflu is an effective treatment. IMA also offers urgent care for most minor medical emergencies, too. You’ll receive faster care for things like stitches, x-rays, and other treatment for adults, pediatric, and seniors, and is much less expensive than an emergency room.

If you are ready to protect yourself, then walk right into to any one of their three locations. In Shrewsbury at 30 Shrewsbury Plaza, (732) 542-0002; in Hazlet at 3253 Route 35, (732) 888-7646; and in Middletown at 363 Route 36, (732) 471-0400. IMA is open seven days a week, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on weekdays and 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on weekends. Visit www.imamd.com.
