AAUW Scholarship Luncheon to Honor Women of Achievement

The Northern Monmouth County Branch of American Association of University Women (AAUW) invites you to meet some incredible women at their eighth annual Scholarship Luncheon on Wednesday, April 19 at Beacon Hill Country Club in Atlantic Highlands. This year’s luncheon marks the first time the women have come together since the COVID-19 pandemic. The keynote speaker this year is poet, author and educator Dr. Gretna Wilkinson. 

Dr. Wilkinson began her career as a missionary teacher in the jungles of her native Guyana. She has authored five chapbooks and one full-length book, “Opening the Drawer.” A Dodge Foundation Poet, she regularly performs in the New York-Philadelphia metro area and on the West Coast with the ensemble, Cool Women. She is a former professor of English and NJPAC/United Way Artist in Residence. Her honors include Honorary Eagle Scout, Monmouth County Arts Educator of the Year and Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction. 

The Beacon Hill County Club offers beautiful views of New York City and Sandy Hook Bay along with a delicious, three-course luncheon, and all proceeds support AAUW’s scholarship and special program for women and girls.

The AAUW Northern Monmouth County Branch was an early supporter of the creation of Brookdale Community College and the Monmouth County Library System. The group, committed to equity for women, provides scholarships for local women students at Brookdale Community College and Monmouth University as well as providing programs for girls to encourage them to study STEM subjects and pursue leadership roles.
