17-Year-Old Boy Drowns at Sandy Hook This Past Weekend

On Saturday, Sept. 4, a 17-year-old boy drowned while swimming off Sandy Hook, a spokeswoman for the National Park Service said.

The boy, along with two other 17-year-olds, were swimming at Beach B, an unprotected beach, when the boy drowned. The teens have not been identified.

The three juveniles were pulled ashore by lifeguards from other beaches. Park rangers also responded to the scene.

One boy and one girl were taken to Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch and treated for their injuries. The other boy was pronounced dead at the scene.
